GLOBAL IMPLICATIONS OF THE ONGOING US-IRAN WAR: AN EVALUATIVE ANALYSIS

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discuss the consequences of an impending war between the United States of America and Iran. This work will analyze both possible benefits and drawbacks of a war between two countries. The approach adopted in conducting the analysis includes the application of secondary data analysis, case studies, and scenario analysis techniques. The discussion in this work will focus on global energy market, security regime in the region, regimes of nuclear nonproliferation, and positions of major and emerging nations. It has been determined that, while there are some strategic benefits that may accrue from the war in favor of the United States, such as weakening Iran's military and dismantling its proxies, these gains are far outweighed by the negative effects including global economic instability, increased danger of proliferation of nuclear weapons, and destabilization of the Middle East.
