Abstract
This study was aimed at investigating the perception of parents about the education of girls in District Nushki, Balochistan. The study was meant to determine the socio-cultural, economic, and institutional factors that affect the attitude of parents towards the education of their female offspring. A research design used was quantitative, and the data collection was done using a structured questionnaire given to 240 parents who were randomly selected. Descriptive statistics were employed as the data were analyzed in terms of mean and standard deviation. The results showed that the parents had positive attitudes and increasing awareness of girl’s education with an overall mean of 3.95 as an indication of positive attitude towards education. Nevertheless, household duties, cultural and social practices and economic constraints were found to be the major obstacles to the education of girls. Nevertheless, these difficulties did not indicate significant changes in parental attitude, which indicated the growth of the importance of female education to individual and societal progress. The research findings conclude that raising awareness, the provision of better facilities, and collaboration of the government and the NGOs are critical in achieving gender equality in education in Nushki and the likes.
