INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL LITERACY ON INFORMATION ENCOUNTERING AMONG RESEARCH STUDENTS IN SINDH, PAKISTAN

This research is aimed to investigate the interconnection between digital literacy (DL) and information encountering among M.Phil and Ph.D (postgraduate) students enrolled in the faculty of social sciences and in the faculty of natural sciences in the University of Karachi and the University of Sindh Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan. A quantitative research method based on a survey questionnaire, was utilized to collect data from 278 students recruited through a convenient sampling technique. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS-23. The research depicted a high perceived DL and information encountering among the research participants. Moreover the results depicted that research students’ DL was a positive correlative and significant predictor of their information encountering. The findings provided important insights to academicians, researchers, educational policy makers including the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the value of DL for research students to use, share and manage unexpected information wisely.
