Abstract

The digital age has had a significant impact on democracy. It has brought revolution in world politics. The rise of digital age has changed how democracies work. Digital tools have made it easier for people to get involved in democracy. They can now contact elected leaders more easily and join political discussions through social media. It has also increased political participation, political awareness and public opinions. Overall, the digital era has transformed the landscape of democratic structures, presenting both opportunities and challenges for the preservation and evolution of democratic principles. However, the digital age has also offered both opportunities and challenges for democracy. This study highlights the deep impact of social media on democratization in Pakistan, particularly from 2018 to 2024. Furthermore, this study also examines how social media has improved access to information. It explores how these platforms shape public opinion and encourage more participation in democracy. Social media helps make governments and organizations more open and answerable to the people. The research adopts a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative and quantitative data to explore the complex role of social media in shaping democratic discourse in Pakistan.
